Phantoms — The Wandering Spirits of the House

Phantoms drift where the air feels heavier, where memory lingers just a little longer than it should.

They are rarely still.

Unlike the gentle presence of smaller spirits, Phantoms move with quiet purpose — appearing, disappearing, and reappearing again as if following paths only they can see.

They are not bound to a single place, but the House always draws them back.

What They Are

Phantoms are mid-sized spirits shaped by lingering presence rather than fleeting energy.

They exist between movement and stillness — never fully settled, yet never truly lost. Their forms feel more defined than Ghostlings, as if something within them is trying to hold shape.

Behaviour

Phantoms wander.

They move through corridors, across thresholds, and between rooms, often retracing the same unseen routes. They may appear briefly, then vanish, only to return moments later from a different direction.

Personality

Restless but not troubled, Phantoms carry a quiet determination. There is intention in their movement, though its meaning is rarely clear.

They are watchers, passers-by, and occasional companions — never lingering long enough to be fully understood.

Role in the House

Phantoms are the travellers of the House.

They connect spaces, drifting between rooms and subtly linking one atmosphere to another. Where Ghostlings gather, Phantoms often pass through.

Where They Are Found

Phantoms favour transitional spaces — places where movement feels natural and time seems to stretch.

They are most often encountered in:

→ Twilight Parlour
→ Moonlit Hall
→ Shadow Cellar

These rooms allow them to move freely, following the quiet pull of unseen pathways.
